Charles J. Ottenheimer — known throughout the Hawaiian Islands as "Charlie Puka-Pau" — was the inventor and developer of Diamond Magic.
Charlie arrived in Hawaii in 1984 and dedicated himself to the craft of glass care. Over the years, he personally repaired more than 25,000 windshields and removed water spots and stains from thousands of automobiles across the islands.
From the very beginning, Charlie received hundreds of requests to remove water spots and mineral stains from automotive and building glass. But no existing solution met his standard — fast, safe, effective, easy to use, and non-toxic, all at the same time. So he set out to create one himself. Founded in 1999, Diamond Magic has since evolved into the ultimate multi-purpose solution, replacing dozens of specialized cleaners with a single, high-performance formula.

After testing over 100 different abrasive materials, Charlie discovered that sub-micron particles of diamond dust, suspended in a compatible cleaning paste, created a synergy that could scour and polish glass and hard surfaces like nothing else on the market.
